Every time you search your business on the web, you find that you are toward the bottom of the search results. You are trying everything you can to increase traffic to your site, but no marketing tactic seems to be successful so far. You are close to giving up—and you wonder whether or not you have what it takes to spark interest in your potential customers.

Does this sound like you? If so, then keep reading!

Search engine optimization, or SEO, plays an important role in successfully driving traffic to your business’ website or blog. Search engine optimization is what enables you to slide into that top spot on customers’ web searches. Without SEO, your brand will not be sufficiently noticed by others.

Keywords are a vital element within SEO. Keywords improve your brand’s relevancy and serve to increase traffic to your site. If you aren’t seeing the traffic you want on your site or blog, it will be critical that you employ keywords within your SEO practices. But how?

Use a Keyword Suggestion Tool

It is difficult to incorporate keywords into your content if you aren’t sure which keywords you should actually be using. Fortunately for you, there are keyword resources that can help you discover which keywords are best for increasing traffic to your site. A keyword suggestion tool allows you to see what keywords are most relevant and frequently searched for on the web according to monthly search volumes. Therefore, they can help you to analyze the competitiveness of certain phrases or words. Using keywords that are relevant and competitive will assuredly bump your website up to the first page of your customers’ web results.

Consistently Publish on Relevant Topics

Even if you are using keywords with high frequency, this does you little good if you are not publishing consistent, relevant information online. One of the best things you can do to increase your site’s SEO is to sit down and write out 5-10 topics that relate to your brand. For example, if you are a marketing agency, you could write down topics such as ‘SEO’ or ‘social media’. Or, if you are a travel blogger, you could choose topics such as travel locations (i.e. ‘Paris’ or ‘London’) or events like ‘honeymoon’ or ‘vacation’. Next, create a list (using a keyword suggestion tool) of competitive keywords under each topic. As you publish context via social media or a blog, incorporate these keywords and topics and try not to branch off into other topics. Stay focused and stay consistent.

Put Keywords in Your Title

One great SEO tactic is to incorporate strong, competitive keywords into the titles of your media or blog posts. If you are using multiple keywords within a given post or publication, make sure that you put the most relevant, strongest keywords within the title. While this is an important step to increasing your site’s SEO, you will want to make sure not to overdo it by writing an excessively long title or incorporating too many keywords. One or two strong, relevant keywords should be sufficient to put your business ‘on the map’.

Keywords really do play a vital role within SEO. If you have not already tried incorporating keywords into your marketing or SEO strategy, then do so today! Just remember that your keywords should be relevant and competitive. Do not overdo it, but rather implement your keywords when relevant—no one likes to read a ‘spammy’ looking article or post. Doing so will ensure that you increase traffic to your website, reach your potential customers, and claim your space on the web.
