A lot of work goes into your business blog. It takes significant brain power to generate ideas and meticulous writing to put those ideas into the right words. You didn’t go to all of that work to have your blog sit there with little to no traffic–you want it to be seen! Here are some expert tips to increase traffic to your business blog.

The Right Keywords

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) refers to how you improve the visibility of your website on major search engines such as Google and Bing. One strategy for optimizing your blog’s online presence is to include high-volume search words or phrases, called keywords. This takes some research (and some guesswork) to do successfully. Keyword research involves the following steps.

  1. Break down your brand into every product and/or service you offer. Be specific.

  2. Make a list of potential keywords, called seed keywords, that are relevant to your business and interesting to your target audience. Try to guess what words your target audience would use to search for something related to your business.

  3. Plug your potential keywords into a keyword tool and star the ones with high volumes.

  4. Turn your starred seed keywords into long tail keywords. Long tail keywords take the short, general terms from your seed keywords and convert them into longer, more specific phrases.

  5. Develop content around your keywords, and be sure to use them in the body of the article.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is a tool you can use to increase your reader base and engage your subscribers. One good way to do this is to send out a small teaser from your most recent post. If done right, this should strike enough interest in your readers to follow the link to your blog. You can also use email to revive past articles. Look for articles that have become especially relevant again.

Also, choose an email marketing tool that is designed for small businesses. You will get the services you need without paying a fortune for the features you don’t need.

User-Friendliness

Your business blog should be implemented in a user-friendly format. User-friendly blogs have clear, well-written content that is easily accessible. Additionally, readers should be able to easily access your website, searchable content, contact information, and your online store–all from your blog.

Your blog really can go from just a few clicks a month to more traffic than you ever thought possible. It just takes a little bit of strategy on your part. The work you put in will be well worth it, though. Don’t let all of your hard work go unseen!
